Spring is almost upon us, and what are you doing? Are you idling about, still under your blankets? It’s time to welcome spring with open arms, and you know what that means, spring cleaning!
While spring cleaning can be a dreaded prospect for many people, it is also a chance to throw the old and bring in the new. When you’re planning on going crazy shopping for the upcoming months, it’s important to clean out the clutter so you have space for it too!
Why Should You Be Spring Cleaning?
Nothing is quite as satisfying as walking into a home that sparkles, quite literally. When you need a reason to do spring cleaning, consider this: Spring is the onset of a new season. New opportunities, memories and additions can be expected in your home and life during this season. When you want to make the most of it, you have to ensure you’re beginning from a clean slate.
Spring cleaning can also be refreshing for your mind in more ways than one. When you are looking to ensure you have a happy and bright outlook right from the start of the season, nothing will do it better than spring cleaning your home.
Preparing Supplies
Before you start tackling your home cleaning, you need the supplies. Nothing can demotivate you more than finding out you don’t have a crucial cleaning component midway through. Ensure that you have all the cleaning supplies you need. Some common cleaning tools and supplies you will need are:
- Floor Cleaner (we’d personally recommend Santic Natural Floor Cleaner, but we won’t force!
- Dust pan and broom
- Dusting cloth
- Polishing liquid for your metals and glass (for Brass and Copper, try out the Santic Brass and Copper Metal Cleaner)
- Grease cleaner for your kitchen (the Santic Ultimate Degreaser works like a charm)
There are many cleaning supplies you might require when you begin to clean your home. It’s better to sit down and think about what needs to be cleaned and what you need for that before you actually start the process.
Taking Care of the Essentials
When you’ve got your supplies ready, there really is no excuse to wait any longer. Consider making a to-do list of all the areas you have to clean. This can include:
- Your closet
- Your bedroom
- The living room and study
- Bathrooms and kitchen
- Any cabinets and drawers you haven’t been through in a while
If you’re planning to get rid of clutter in your home but don’t know where to start, it’s a good idea to think about its value in your home and life. If it’s something that hasn’t brought you happiness or joy within the past year, chucking it out is usually a good call.
Ensuring Thorough Cleanliness
Once you’ve done the basic cleaning, it’s time to get down to the nitty gritty. You need to ensure that you’re cleaning over everything again, and there are bound to be spots that you’ve missed. When you go through all the areas you’ve dusted and clutter you’ve cleared out, you might come across something that got thrown by mistake.
You might also want to have somebody go through everything you’ve done in your home to ensure that nothing is missing. Nothing is worse than spotting a place you’ve missed out on when you’ve spent an entire day cleaning.
Once you are completely done, it’s time to deal with the trash. We’d suggest that you look into upcycling or recycling your waste to be more sustainable. 2022 is all about being green and healthy folks! Try selling your clothes or donating them to a shelter. Get a recycling service to come pick up all the cardboard, paper and other recycling items you’ve got.
Enjoying the Fruits of Your Labor!
Once you’re done, it’s time to enjoy! You can definitely feel the effects of your spring cleaning for at least a month after you’ve done it. The whole process can be extremely therapeutic for many, and you might even look forward to doing it again when Autumn comes around.
Till then, enjoy your spring cleaning results people!
